Hailing from North Carolina, Sharon E. Smith has called Portland, Oregon home for nearly 3 decades. Her passion for art began at a young age and has led her to explore a variety of mediums including painting, photography, metalsmith jewelry, aerated cement sculpting, and Procreate digital illustration. 

“I often play around with design, composition, and color digitally then use these works as references for larger paintings. In addition to whimsical creatures and geometric abstraction, I love creating pop-inspired portrait paintings by adapting old family photos, adding color and new life to moments and facial expressions previously captured in time.”

Primarily a self-taught artist, Sharon has supplemented her learning through various art classes and workshops. She also holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and Spanish, and a master's degree in counselor education.

Sharon’s artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibits in Portland Oregon; Vancouver, Washington; and Mexico City.
